Tara Griffin is a Clinical Psychologist providing Telehealth appointments across Australia for adolescents aged 13+ and adults, with particular expertise in diabetes, bariatric psychology, weight-related concerns, and the emotional impact of living with chronic health conditions.
Private referrals welcome. GP and specialist referrals welcome. Medicare rebates may apply with an appropriate referral.
Sometimes people seek support for anxiety, stress, or low mood. Sometimes the challenge is more layered than that.
It may involve living with diabetes, coping with chronic illness, preparing for bariatric surgery, adjusting after surgery, feeling overwhelmed by weight-related struggles, or carrying the ongoing mental load of self-management and self-care.
Tara offers evidence-informed, compassionate psychological support for people who want to better understand what they are going through and find a more practical, sustainable way forward.
Support for diabetes distress, burnout, adjustment, motivation, emotional wellbeing, and the psychological impact of living with diabetes.
Pre-operative assessments, post-operative support, body image, binge eating, motivation, identity changes, and longer-term adjustment.
Support for anxiety, depression, stress, self-esteem, behaviour change, chronic illness adjustment, and emotional wellbeing.
Help with the emotional side of ongoing health conditions, life changes, overwhelm, and the challenge of balancing treatment with everyday life.
Tara brings together clinical expertise, years of private practice experience, and a strong understanding of the relationship between mental health, behaviour, and physical health.
She is a nationally registered Clinical Psychologist and a full member of the Australian Psychological Society (MAPS), and has worked in private practice since 2011. Her experience includes specialist bariatric work, support for people managing chronic disease including diabetes, and involvement in diabetes education and support through My Health Explained and the Danii Foundation.
Her approach is thoughtful, practical, and compassionate — focused on helping people feel understood, supported, and better equipped to move forward.
Living with diabetes can affect far more than blood glucose. It can shape confidence, relationships, identity, motivation, mood, and the way a person feels about their body and future.
Tara has a particular interest in helping people with diabetes, especially Type 1 diabetes. She brings personal as well as professional insight into life with Type 1 diabetes, after being diagnosed herself at age 14.
This can be especially valuable for people experiencing burnout, overwhelm, perfectionism, guilt, frustration, or emotional exhaustion from the daily demands of self-management.
Tara has worked within specialist bariatric settings performing pre-operative assessments as well as post-operative care. Her experience includes helping people navigate motivation, health behaviour change, binge eating, body image, identity, self-esteem, relationship stress, and symptoms of anxiety or depression associated with weight.
Whether you are preparing for surgery, adapting after surgery, or seeking support with the emotional and behavioural side of weight-related concerns, care is tailored to your needs and goals.
Appointments are offered via Telehealth, making it easier to access support wherever you are in Australia. Sessions are designed to be professional, practical, and accessible from the privacy of your own space.
Referrals are welcome for patients who may benefit from clinical psychology support, particularly in the areas of bariatric surgery assessment and support, diabetes distress, chronic disease adjustment, anxiety, mood concerns, and behaviour-related health challenges.
Tara's background includes specialist bariatric work, diabetes-related support, and broader clinical psychology care, making her well placed to support both focused referrals and ongoing therapy where appropriate.
